Today, August 19, is World Photography Day. 📸

For me, photography is more than taking a nice picture. It’s about capturing a moment, noticing the details, and telling a story without saying a word.

Over the years, I’ve had the chance to photograph different subjects, and each one tells a different story.

A Few Photography Facts

Did you know?

📸 The first permanent photograph was created in the 1820s and took several hours to expose.

💡 The word photography comes from Greek roots that mean roughly “drawing with light.”

📅 World Photography Day is celebrated every August 19, connected to the introduction of the daguerreotype process in 1839.

But here's what I've learned:

A great camera doesn't automatically create a great photograph.

It's the person behind the camera who sees the moment.

Photography helps us preserve memories, document history, promote businesses, celebrate people, and share stories.

Sometimes, one photograph can say what a thousand words cannot.

So today, I want to encourage you to pick up your camera or phone and look around.

Photograph something ordinary.

Try a different angle.

Look for the light.

Capture a moment.

Tell a story.

Because stories are everywhere. We just have to take the time to see them.

Which photo speaks to you the most? Let me know in the comments. 👇

And if you have a photo that tells a story, share it too!

Let's celebrate photography not just as an art, but as a way to see, remember, connect, and tell stories.

Happy World Photography Day! 📸
